M&J lived in London and decided to have their wedding at Grand Hôtel Intercontinental de Bordeaux, the luxury hôtel on place de la Comédie opposite to the Grand Théâtre.
The wedding was due to take place in september 2020, but had to be postponed until september 2021. As fate would have it, it turned the year of their 10 years together.
After a welcome drink in the magnificent lobby of the Grand Hôtel, the engagement ceremony took place in the Grand Hôtel’s salon l’Orangerie.
Originally, M&J’s engagement ceremony was to take place on the terrace of the royal suite where the newlyweds staying for 3 days. However, the weather in Bordeaux decided otherwise. The D-Day, Emmanuelle and the staff of the Grand Hôtel adapted and were able to offer the magnificent salon l’Orangerie as plan B.
As big kids and tarot players, their engagement officiant, Julie, accessorized their love story with candy necklaces to munch on and used tarot cards to script their union.
After a ceremony inside, guests enjoyed a glass of champagne on the terrace of the Royal Suite before heading to the Grand Hotel patio for the wedding cocktail reception.
They enjoyed appetizer and champagne under a warmer sky while playing a game of “pétanque” on the patio.
The wedding dinner was then served in the Sauternes lounge, overlooking the Grand Théâtre and the place de la Comédie.
The meal was prepared by the Grand Hôtel’s two-star Michelin restaurant, the Pressoir d’Argent of Gordon Ramsay.
M&J had told the photographer, Marion and Emmanuelle that they originally wanted to get married at a funfair.
Marion had therefore arrange for tickets for the carrousel of place Tourny during their couple’s photo session.
As newlyweds are pizza fans, Emmanuelle had called Bordeaux’s famous pizzeria, Peponne, who delivered pizzas for the newlyweds’s surprise. Marion, meanwhile, had arranged beers to accompany the pizzas.
M&J were looking for originality, Emmanuelle brought out her glittery sneakers and photos together were immortalized the moment, notably on the LGBT pedestrian of the Cour du Chapeau Rouge.
J wanted to use kitschy details to break the codes. He offered to Emmanuelle a gold-plated chain (which you can find in her office) which she kept throughout the wedding as a dedication !
Cigar and fake bills, provided by Marion, completed the offbeat photos shoot.
As the wedding was being organized remotely (Emmanuelle and M&J met for the first time the day before the wedding), Emmanuelle created the table decoration on video live with the newlyweds. They were able to personnalize every details thanks to the attendance of their wedding planner on site. A nod to their London life was made with the choice of English tweed tablecoths and napkins.
As M has russian origins, the guests found russian dolls at their place at the wedding dinner table as souvenir.
Personalized candles from Cotton Bird accompanied these guests gifts.
